President-elect Donald Trump accused President Biden and the Pentagon on Monday of hiding information about mysterious drones seen flying over New Jersey and New York.
“The government knows what’s going on,” Trump, 78, said after Biden officials claimed they didn’t have answers, despite thousands of people in New Jersey and New York City witnessing and even photographing the unidentified aircraft.
“Our military knows where they took off from—whether it’s a garage or somewhere else. They know where it came from and where it went. For some reason, they don’t want to talk about it,” Trump said during a 70-minute press conference in Palm Beach, Florida.
“They’d be better off just saying what it is. Our military knows, and our president knows. But for some reason, they want to keep people in suspense,” he added.
When asked if he had received an intelligence briefing on the drones, Trump declined to answer. “I don’t want to comment on that,” he said.
“I can’t imagine it’s the enemy,” Trump said later. “If it were, they’d shoot it down—even if it took them some time, they’d shoot it.”
“Something strange is going on,” he continued. “For some reason, they don’t want to tell people, and they should.”
In a lighter moment, Trump joked about canceling his weekend plans to visit his golf club in Bedminster, New Jersey.
“They’re flying very close to Bedminster,” he said. “I think maybe I won’t spend the weekend there. I’ve decided to cancel my trip.”
