I’m not really sure what to say about this “game.” I mean, sure, make it and all, but yikes!
According to the Kickstarter Page:
Blacks & Whites: 50th Anniversary Edition is a modern take on a classic tabletop game about racial inequity in real estate and American society. Welcome to our Kickstarter!
What’s Blacks & Whites?
Fifty years ago, Professor Robert Sommer of the University of California at Davis created a socially-conscious version of Monopoly called Blacks & Whites. It was originally developed for educational use, highlighting racial inequity in real estate and American society through gameplay and humor.
While players in a game like Monopoly begin with the same amount of money and have equal access to opportunities throughout the game, real life is never that simplistic or fair.
So in Blacks & Whites: after choosing your racial identity – Black or White – Black players start off with $10,000, and White players start off with $1,000,000. It’s messed up, but that’s exactly the point.
