Marvel Studios’ latest show Ms Marvelpremiered its first episode this week on Disney+ Hotstar and received rave reviews from the critics.
It currently is one of the highest rated MCU shows or movies on Rotten Tomatoes with 95 percent critics score based on 142 reviews and the audience score too is a good 85 percent based on 1728 votes.
However, on IMDb, it’s a different story altogether.
Despite critical acclaim, the show has received the worst rating of all the previous MCU shows and the reason behind such a poor response is that it is being review-bombed!
The show currently has a below average rating of 6.6 out of 10 based on 13 thousand user votes.
Take a look at the rating of all the MCU shows on IMDb below:
Loki: 8.2/10
WandaVision: 7.9/10
Hawkeye – 7.6/10
Moon Knight – 7.4/10
What If…? – 7.4/10
The Falcon and the Winter Soldier – 7.2/10
Ms Marvel – 6.6/10
For a show that has the best critical score, such a low IMDb rating does seem fishy.
According to a report in Forbes, Ms Marvel has the most 1-star rating on IMDb out of all the shows and the margin of such poor rating between Iman Vellani starrer and other shows is quite high.
Ms Marvel has a huge 23.5 per cent 1-star rating in comparison to Loki that has 1.5 per cent, WandaVision at 2.2 per cent, Moon Knight at 4.8 per cent, Hawkeye at 1.5 per cent, What If…? at 2.2 per cent & The Falcon and the Winter Soldier at 3.3 per cent.
And when one looks at the 10/10 rating of Ms Marvel on IMDb, it is at a staggering 39 per cent, more than any other MCU show.
So, if not for such high numbers of 1-star ratings, Ms Marvel would have been the highest-rated MCU show.
Quite clearly, it is a case of review-bombing.
The report further states that there could be four reasons why the show is getting review bombed and the top two of them could that that the lead star is a Muslim actor and is of Pakistani origin.
