Fans have been waiting a long time see Morbius, the vampire superhero movie featuring Jared Leto. Morbius is one of the many villains from Spider-Man’s extensive rogues’ gallery, and for whatever reason, Sony decided that the Living Vampire was the next best villain after Venom to feature in their expanding Spider-Man Universe of films. It isn’t part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, but Sony is doing its absolute best to make it MCU-adjacent.
After being delayed six times, Moribus is finally due to hit theaters on April 1. The early reviews are rolling in, and alas, it does not sound good.
Okay, so let’s round up the early impressions of Morbius. Reviews are going to keep rolling in leading up to the film’s April 1 release date, but there are already some reviewers who have seen it and survived. Barely.
A lot of people point to the post-credits scene(s) as particularly bad. After a bit of digging, we can talk about why that might be the case, but let’s give an obligatory SPOILER warning here in case you care enough to not want to know why this post-credits scene is infuriating fans.
The reason why the post-credits scene of Morbius is frustrating so many fans is because it reportedly features Michael Keaton…in his only scene of the movie. Keaton played Adrian Toomes aka The Vulture in Spider-Man: Homecoming, which is an MCU film. Sony has played up Keaton’s involvement in Morbius in trailers for the film repeatedly. It’s not a huge stretch to say that Keaton’s involvement was one the main talking points about the film.
Apparently, nearly all of Keaton’s scenes in the film were cut, and he only appears in one of the film’s two post-credits scenes.
