Karmelo Anthony “In Hiding” After Family’s Wild Threat Claims – But Police Say Otherwise
What’s going on everyone, Jeremy here from TheQuartering. We’ve been following the Karmelo Anthony saga closely, and now there’s a bizarre new development: Karmelo has reportedly been moved to an undisclosed location due to supposed threats against him and his family.
However, the Frisco Police Department is throwing a wrench in this narrative. Despite the Anthony family’s claims of being threatened and needing to move to safety, local PD states they have received zero reports of any such threats against Karmelo. This echoes our initial skepticism regarding the family’s claims, especially after they stated their 13-year-old daughter was afraid to sleep in her own bed.
The family has cited various instances of alleged harassment, including strangers approaching their home and even receiving copies of Austin Metaf’s obituary in the mail. While we don’t condone any form of harassment, it’s hard to see how these actions constitute a level of danger requiring them to go into hiding and move to a new, undisclosed location, especially given that Karmelo has been residing in a gated community in Frisco since April 2nd. The claim of people loitering outside their house in a gated community also raises serious questions.
Furthermore, the timing and handling of their online fundraiser continue to raise eyebrows. Initially aiming for $500,000, they quickly increased the goal to $506,000 after reaching the initial target. They claimed the funds were for various expenses, but it appears Karmelo’s bail was actually paid by an activist/bail bondsman, and the Next Generation Action Network (NGN) is also reportedly covering some costs. The family stated they had finally gained access to the funds and then seemingly acquired a new place within minutes. Their refusal to provide transparent updates on how the raised money is being used, even requiring payment to view an update, adds to the suspicion. We’ve also noted that NGN, with whom Karmelo’s newly hired lawyer Kim T. Cole is general counsel, appears to have potential issues with filing proper IRS reports as a 501c3 organization.
It’s important to note that both the Anthony and Metaf families have been subjected to “swatting” calls. Frisco police are investigating these incidents, where prank calls led to swat teams being dispatched to their homes. Austin Metaf’s father, Jeff Metaf, expressed his worry about someone getting hurt due to this harassment. On the Anthony side, Karmelo’s mother claimed her husband had to take leave from his job due to harassment targeting his employer, though no evidence of this has been provided.
While it’s possible some individuals have engaged in online harassment or sent inappropriate items, the level of organized, life-threatening activity the Anthony family claims to be experiencing seems unsubstantiated by the Frisco Police Department. Their move to an undisclosed location, framed as a response to these alleged threats, feels more like an attempt to further a victimhood narrative than a genuine safety precaution. We’ll continue to follow this developing story, so make sure you’re subscribed for the latest updates.
