Another School Shooting Ignored by Mainstream Media – Why?
You likely didn’t hear about this on CNN or MSNBC, and that’s precisely the point we often discuss here regarding media bias. Just days ago, an alarming incident occurred at a Texas high school where an individual, identified as 17-year-old Tracy Haynes, allegedly opened fire, injuring at least five people.
According to an arrest affidavit, Haynes was let into the school building by another student through an unsecured door just after 1:00 p.m.. Surveillance footage reportedly captured Haynes entering the hallway before he “displayed his tool of the trade and opened fire indiscriminately, striking five people before approaching a single student who was not able to run and taking them out at point blank distance”.
The alleged motive behind this horrific act? A dispute over a dice game. We’re talking about a high school dice game. It’s almost unbelievable that such violence could erupt over something like this.
First responders arrived at the scene around 1:00 p.m. after the threat had ended. Thankfully, the suspect, Haynes, turned himself in to authorities and was booked into Dallas County Jail.
What’s truly disturbing is the lack of widespread national media coverage surrounding this event. Local Texas media has reported on it, but it has barely registered on the national radar. We believe the reason for this silence is the individual involved doesn’t fit a particular narrative often amplified by mainstream outlets.
Tragically, this isn’t the first incident at this particular school. A similar event occurred just last year. Students have reported that the school’s metal detectors are not regularly used and clear bag policies are not consistently enforced. However, it’s important to note that even consistent enforcement might not have prevented this incident, especially given how the individual gained entry.
Adding to the concern, while we were recording this report, news broke of another active incident at Florida State University near the student union, involving at least four people hospitalized following a disagreement.
These events underscore the pressing need to address school safety. We believe that armed guards and better control over school entrances are crucial steps to deter such violence.
It is unacceptable that these incidents seem to be becoming a regular occurrence. We will continue to monitor the situation at Florida State University and provide updates as they become available. We hope this report has shed light on an important story that deserves wider attention.
