Laura Loomer claims Elon Musk is targeting her by suspending her X account, removing her verification badge, and cutting off her subscription income. She says it’s all because of their disagreement over foreign work visas.
“It’s pure retaliation,” Loomer told Newsweek on Thursday. “I’ve asked multiple people to explain what’s happening, but no one will respond.”
She believes Musk and his platform are specifically singling her out, and the feud highlights a growing divide within the MAGA movement over H-1B visas. Musk and President-elect Donald Trump argue these programs attract the world’s best talent to the U.S., while critics like Loomer say they allow companies to bypass hiring American workers.
Loomer also called Musk a hypocrite, saying his actions contradict his claim of being a “free speech absolutist.” When Musk bought Twitter (now called X) in 2022, he had promised to make it a platform for open debate and criticized past restrictions on conservative voices. He even reinstated accounts like Trump’s and Loomer’s, which had been permanently banned before his takeover.
The fallout between Loomer and Musk began on December 23 when she criticized Trump’s decision to appoint Sriram Krishnan, a tech executive, as an AI policy adviser. Krishnan has supported raising green card caps to bring skilled workers to the U.S., which Loomer argued goes against Trump’s “America First” policies.
“This is troubling,” Loomer said. “These tech executives didn’t support Trump in 2020 or during the 2024 primaries. Now they’re trying to join his administration to benefit themselves, not the country.”
Musk, who has personally benefited from the H-1B visa program and hired many foreign workers at his companies, defended the need for international talent, calling the shortage of skilled engineers a major challenge in Silicon Valley.
As MAGA supporters debated the issue, Musk accused Loomer of “trolling for attention.” Loomer fired back, accusing Musk and his tech allies of looking down on Trump’s most loyal supporters. “The Big Tech love fest at Mar-a-Lago will end soon,” she warned in a post.
