Twitch streamer Pirate Software couldn’t help but weigh in after his recent stream with Asmongold ignited a social media firestorm—and honestly, his response is almost as entertaining as the controversy itself.
For context: OTK co-founder Asmongold has been no stranger to online drama. Over the years, his polarizing comments have kept the internet buzzing, with his temporary Twitch ban back in October 2024 for “racist” remarks about Palestine being a standout moment. Though he later apologized and vowed to adjust his tone, the jury of public opinion clearly hasn’t dismissed the case.
Enter Pirate Software, aka Jason Thor Hall, who decided to chat with Asmongold about the game Ashes of Creation. Let’s just say, some fans were not amused.

“This is so disappointing, Pirate Software,” one user on X scolded. “You can’t just avoid politics in your community. Doing a video with someone who is one of the worst voices in games—so openly misogynistic, transphobic, racist—is a baffling decision.”
But Pirate Software wasn’t about to let the comment section write the narrative. Taking to X, he addressed the uproar with the kind of amused exasperation you’d expect from someone who has clearly been reading a lot of angry DMs.
“A lot of people are mad that I talked to Asmongold recently about Ashes of Creation,” he began. “I see all your comments and messages on YouTube and Twitter. Here’s the thing: another creator made a video trashing the game, and Asmon, who hadn’t had the chance to play it much, didn’t have the knowledge to refute it. Naturally, this gave the audience a negative opinion—because no one was there to call out the nonsense.”
Pirate Software went on to explain his reasoning. “I’ve put over 500 hours into the game, so I know it inside and out. Since Asmon’s channel was where the misinformation started, it made sense to talk to him directly and clear the air. We did this live on Twitch the same day the video dropped.”
He wrapped up with a mic drop-worthy conclusion: “In today’s internet, if you don’t say something, the room fills up with people who do. I chose to set the record straight, and I’m glad I did.”
So, while the drama continues to simmer, Pirate Software’s response seems to suggest he’s unbothered—if anything, he sounds mildly amused by the whole ordeal.
