MSNBC star Joy-Ann Reid has said Donald Trump might become a trillionaire before Elon Musk, thanks to the success of his meme coin endeavor.
The far-left political commentator made the astonishing prediction about the incoming president just hours before the inauguration ceremony on Monday.
‘Trump might get to trillionaire status before Elon at this rate,’ Reid, 56, wrote on Instagram beside a video of two commentators speaking about Trump on CNN.
The president-elect launched his cryptocurrency, called $TRUMP, on Friday, and it soared to $10.7billion in market value ahead of the ceremony on Monday.
In the video re-posted by Reid, Washington Post columnist Catherine Rampell said along with lining Trump’s pockets, the new currency will also serve as a ‘convenient way’ for foreign powers to make bribes.
‘There will be a reliable source of individuals, companies, and foreign governments that see this, see buying these coins, these tokens, as a very convenient way to pay off the president for favors,’ Rampell told CNN in the clip.
‘If you’re the Saudi government, you no longer need to pretend to stay at a Trump hotel in order to give money to Donald Trump, to bribe Donald Trump, you can just show your digital wallet, and that is sufficient.’
Trump’s wealth currently sits at around $6.1 billion, according to Forbes.
